TA: Serie A is negotiating to place Milan vs. Como in Australia in February next year

1BSPORTS 1B Sports June 11 According to The Athletic, Serie A is discussing the Milan vs. Como league in Australia in February next year.

TA reported that the Milan vs. Como match was originally planned to be held at the San Siro Stadium, but the stadium was unavailable due to the opening ceremony of the Milan Winter Olympics on February 6. The media said Serie A is negotiating to make the game play in Perth, Australia on the weekend from February 7 to 8, 2026.

TA then stated that according to tradition, Milan and Inter Milan will be held on different weekends, but the first round of the leagues of the two teams will be played at home next season, which is to alleviate the crowding caused by the opening ceremonies of the Milan Winter Olympics and Paralympics in February next year.

Previously, regular leagues were banned from being held overseas, but in April this year, Relevent Sports and the U.S. Football Association settled a six-year lawsuit, which created conditions for European domestic leagues to take place overseas. Currently, the two sides are discussing a home match against Como at the Optus Stadium in Perth, which will be a milestone, but no final resolution has been reached.

Serie A is not the first league to intend to put the league overseas, and this idea has been put forward before both La Liga and the Premier League. This season, La Liga planned to put Barcelona’s home game against Atletico Madrid in Miami.
