Talk about preparations for the World Cup this summer
“When you are the club head coach, you usually plan two weeks in advance because every three days, and that’s the pace of your work. You push everyone to extend the season as much as possible in order to reach the finals, and you don’t look too much at the future to avoid distractions. We now have to make sure the quality of the team, then consider training, and then think about the World Cup. But from a logistical perspective, it’s impossible . You have to consider booking hotels and setting up camps now to make sure we have the best environment to succeed. Next week we will go to the United States to inspect clubs and training facilities for preparation, and we will feel and observe how European teams play in Miami at 3pm, including details such as drinking water and cooling systems. As club coaches, it’s not so comfortable to do these things in the qualifiers, but now it’s necessary and our focus is to make sure we can make it to the World Cup smoothly.”
Talking about the expansion of the Club World Cup
“This is very different from what I did when I won the championship with Chelsea in 2022. At that time, we only played one or two games. I think it was a long game system. If I were still a little boy, I would be very excited to see Bayern play Manchester City and Juventus. But I think the schedule is too long now. The time the players stay in the United States, the time spent in hotels, and the long journey will make them more tired and stressful. It is a bit worrying for me to participate in such a long tournament after a long season. But I may be a little biased. I understand that once the game starts, the players will be excited and eager to add another trophy. But for players, it is really hard to stay in a highly nervous state for a long time.”
Whether the Club World Cup will affect next year’s World Cup
“I hope next June will be a good thing for everyone, and everyone can spend a long season safely. The schedule is getting very tight now, and the players go from the European Cup to the Club World Cup, and then to the World Cup. In a season, only the national team’s intervals can be considered a holiday. On the other hand, I think teams like Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle will have a huge advantage in the Premier League championship next season, because now they have enough time to prepare for pre-season and improve the players’ form. In this year’s Champions League semi-finals and even the quarter-finals, IWe didn’t see much English players. We hope to see more English players participating in the final stages of these European competitions to prove their strength, which will also help us accumulate experience and build a strong team. ”
Talk about whether I will stay until the 2028 European Cup
“I am always moved by the opportunity to be stayed, because I love this team and this responsibility. It is a great honor to be the head coach of England. I know England is about to have a major event, and I am always attracted by such opportunities. Even though yesterday’s match result was disappointing, I will still say that. I feel like I’m in the right position, I enjoy the current situation, I love the new challenges, I want it as well as a new environment. I felt the support, trust and respect from the Football Association. I love this group of players and hope to push them forward. It feels very right, so my answer is yes. I love the opportunity to get close to the Premier League, but also constantly renew myself, learn how to build a team from people in different fields, reflect on these experiences and see the higher level of football. Being able to have the opportunity to choose a team roster during the non-transfer period is the most suitable challenge for me at the moment, and it is indeed a huge challenge, but I really like it. ”
