Brad Maloney is 53 years old and took over the Australian U17 team in July 2022. He led the team to compete in the 2023 and 2025 Asian Youth Championship. He lost to Japan in the quarter-finals of the 2023 Asian Youth Championship and was eliminated. He did not qualify for the 2025 Asian Youth Championship.
In the end of May and early June this year, Maloni led the Australian U16 team (the team next year’s U17 Asian junior team) to participate in the Hohhot Invitational. After defeating Vietnam and Saudi Arabia 2-1, he lost to the Chinese U16 team 2-5 in the last game.
Talking about resignation, Maloney said: “In the past three years, I have really enjoyed finding some of Australia’s best young people and working with them. I am very happy to see some players advance to the National Youth League, National Olympic and National Team in such a short time.”
