Record: Arsenal offers 65 million euros to buy Yorke, but the amount is lower than Portuguese requirements

1BSPORTS 1B Sports June 13th According to the Records, Arsenal submitted a quotation for Portugal Sports for a 65 million euro purchase of Yorke, but the amount of the offer was lower than Portugal Sports’ requirement.

It is understood that the offer was proposed at a meeting yesterday, located in Menorca, Spain, and participants included Arsenal’s sports director Andrea Berta, a lawyer at the club and Portugal’s sports football director Bernardo Palmero.

The amounts of these quotes were revealed to be lower than what Portugal Sports required. Portuguese Sports Chairman Valandas once made it clear in an interview with the media that he would not let Yorke go for less than 70 million euros, which is exactly the amount the player himself and his agents believed to have promised last September.

However, Valandas has a different story about this, insisting that the only promised to Yorke’s agent is that it will not ask for a termination clause that triggers the player, which is set at 100 million euros.

There was no specific offer for the player until yesterday morning, and this was confirmed by Valandas. But by the late afternoon, things changed and when Palmero met with Berta in Menorca, Arsenal’s first official offer to Yorke was submitted to Portugal Sports.

For Arsenal’s attempt, Portugal Sports’ response is predictable, as the offer does not meet the bottom line stated by Valandas before. Still, the official response from Portugal Sports to the move is expected, and it may not be Arsenal’s last attempt.
